Minnesota Swarm Sign Eric Perkins

Local TV sportscaster Eric Perkins from NBC-affiliate KARE 11, has signed with the Swarm. He will play in the home opener on January 13th, 2007 against the Shamrox at The Hive (Xcel Energy Center). Perkins, whose father Jack is a famous reporter who works for the A&E channel, is known around these parts for his segments in which he participates in whatever he is covering.

He will be wearing #11 and is a left-handed forward. The press conference for his signing can be seen here.

This is basically a way that the Swarm can get some publicity. Perkins will supposedly play one shift against the Shamrox and that will be it. KARE 11 is the sponsor for that night's promotion in which the first 10,000 will get a white Swarm T-shirt for their "White-Out" promotion that night. Perkins is one of the extremely few media members in the Twin Cities that acknowledges the Swarm's existence and is very popular in town. Basically, the Swarm hope that Perkins can bring in some more fans and hopefully those fans will come back for the next game and the next game after seeing the fastest game on two feet.
